Last week I photographed
Ivan E. Coyote
as well as local queer authors
Ma-Nee Chacaby, Ray Moonias,
Betsy Martin, Gwen O'Reilly, Susan Goldberg
at the Learning Cafe
during Thunder Pride Week
It was a special evening
with much laughter
thanks to Ivan's storytelling
Betsy's story about snowshoe baseball
as well as tears
due to Ray's heartfelt poetry
and Susan's story about her Mother's death and her wedding
Gwen held us rapt with her love poems
is an award-winning author of short stories
as well as a renowned storyteller
which was much in evidence that evening
Ivan speaks to the audience
as though we are all her close friends
She tells us of the beauty of falling in love, her strong family ties,
growing up in Yellowknife, her travels as an author and storyteller
She tells us what life is like for her
and we want to hear more!
